A visit to Chicago leaves you spellbound. Like all other metropolitan cities of North America such as Los Angeles and New York, Chicago also has a truly cosmopolitan nature. This is evident by the number of people from all over the world who have made this lovely city their home. It's this wide diversity of people that gives Chicago its wide variety of culture and arts. No where else in America can you find the jazz and blues that permeates this city. This combination of culture and diversity also creates a culinary circle in the city that leaves nothing to the imagination. With so much going for it, you'll want to make sure that you include Chicago on your list of cities to visit. Chicago has many attractions you shouldn't miss. One example is the Art Institute of Chicago. You can get lost for hours looking at art and sculpture from the last 5000 years. The Art Institute hosts a huge collection of postimpressionist and impressionist paintings. Make sure you have your picture taken by the local landmark lions outside museum. After a morning of sightseeing you might want to pay a visit to the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. This neighborhood is alive both day and night as people walk, run, cycle, rollerblade, and stroll along the busy streets. Lincoln Park is well known for the Biograph Theater, since this is where the FBI shot John Dillinger in 1934. Additional attractions include the Lincoln Zoo (free to the public). Check out the gorillas and chimpanzees before venturing on to see the more uncommon animals, such as the Galapagos turtle and poisonous spiders from all over the planet. The zoo features some talented animals. A regular exhibit is art time with the chimpanzees, they come out to draw for you. Their unique creations have sold around the world. By now quite a few of you must be wondering about an important aspect of any trip, shopping. Chicago provides ample opportunity for this, on the Magnificent Mile avenue stretching from the Park to the Chicago River. Another landmark of Chicago that you can find on path is the Tribune Tower, standing in all its gothic beauty from 1925 till today. This tower's base is also the resting place of various rocks that have been brought from all over the world by newspaper reporters. The highlight of a trip to Chicago for your children may be a visit to the Shedd Aquarium. The Shedd Aquarium, built in 1929, contains one of the world's largest collections of marine and aquatic animals. The huge central tank contains 500 tropical fish, everything from moray eel to the quiet nurse shark. In addition, you'll see sea otters, penguins, dolphins, beluga whales, and harbor seals. No visit to Chicago is complete without a stop at Wrigley field, the famous baseball field of the century. Walk around and get a feel for the game. Taking home a few pictures of this famous landmark will make you the envy of any baseball fan. Chicago does not have any season to its name. In fact it is a city for all seasons, though the winters are a quite cold with the snow added in. Nonetheless its charm gets to you, it has something for everyone true to its reputation.
