Chicago: A City Of Diversity & Great Attractions

Chicago is one of those memorable cities in North America that you never forget visiting. The wide range of nationalities of people that live in this city is overwhelming and rivals the diversity that can be found in other major cities, such as Los Angles and New York.

Chicago is certainly a must visit for all tourists no matter what their interest. Its cosmopolitan nature has given Chicago a rich culture which has amalgamated in itself all that it encountered. You can see this cultural blend in it arts, music and the famous international cuisine. Jazz and blues doesn't sound better in any other part of America than Chicago. People from all over the world can find something or the other to suite their palate.

You can view examples of Chicago's rich cultural heritage from the past 5000 years, all in one place at the Art Institute of Chicago. It showcases among other stalwarts of art and culture, a wide spectrum of postimpressionist and impressionist paintings. When surround by such beauty very often you can loose the thread of time finding it hard to let go of the past. But no worry you can take memories of this visit with you in form of pictures such as those with lions in front of the museum.

After a morning of sightseeing you might want to pay a visit to the Lincoln Park area of Chicago. This neighborhood is alive both day and night as people walk, run, cycle, rollerblade, and stroll along the busy streets. Lincoln Park is well known for the Biograph Theater, since this is where the FBI shot John Dillinger in 1934.

Additional attractions include the Lincoln Zoo (free to the public). Check out the gorillas and chimpanzees before venturing on to see the more uncommon animals, such as the Galapagos turtle and poisonous spiders from all over the planet. The zoo features some talented animals. A regular exhibit is art time with the chimpanzees, they come out to draw for you. Their unique creations have sold around the world.

By now quite a few of you must be wondering about an important aspect of any trip, shopping. Chicago provides ample opportunity for this, on the Magnificent Mile avenue stretching from the Park to the Chicago River. Another landmark of Chicago that you can find on path is the Tribune Tower, standing in all its gothic beauty from 1925 till today. This tower's base is also the resting place of various rocks that have been brought from all over the world by newspaper reporters.

Besides the zoo, Chicago also boasts of one of the earliest aquariums with world's largest marine and aquatic animals collections, the Shedd Aquarium, built in 1929, popular among kids. You can have look at marine life such as penguins, dolphins, beluga whales, harbor seals, moray eel & quiet nurse shark. There are as many as 500 variety of tropical fish here.

If you are in America can baseball be far behind. Chicago has to its name one of the most popular baseball fields of the century, the Wrigley field. Any baseball fan would have heard of it and would definitely want a picture of it. A walk around the field is an experience to cherish.

Chicago does not have any season to its name. In fact it is a city for all seasons, though the winters are a quite cold with the snow added in. Nonetheless its charm gets to you, it has something for everyone true to its reputation.
